Jack hacked

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account fired up a series of racial slurs Friday afternoon (US time) which was reported to be sent by a team that calls itself Chuckle Squad.

According to The Verge, the microblogging and social networking site’s communications immediately sent out a one-line statement saying that Dorsey’s account was hacked. It also assured Twitter users that “the account is now secure, and there is no indication that Twitter’s systems have been compromised.”

Further reports said that the offensive tweets might have been sent out through Cloudhopper.

Apparently, Twitter acquired the company as reinforcement to its SMS service. Users can tweet through SMS by using this service. Just text 404-04 using the phone number linked to the Twitter account and any message sent through this will post to Twitter.

In January, Dorsey tweeted about it without revealing any more details.

The Verge also reported that the hackers behind the recent attack on Twitter CEO might be the same group that hacked YouTube celebrities Twitter accounts last week.

The patterns of the attacks are similar to that done by Chuckle Squad so while no one has claimed of the attack (yet), online buzz points to Chuckle Squad.
