“HP Omen Challenger Series Season 2” is a $50,000 Counterstrike Global Offensive (CS:GO) Challenger Series that was made available to participants across 12 Asia-Pacific countries: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and New Zealand.
After grueling weeks of regional qualifiers between notable teams competing such as Grayhound, Chiefs, Syntax, FrostFire, Absolute, Bren Esports, Alpha Red and B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape, the main event is happening today at an offline Grand Finals to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The “Fan Contest” developed by Tokigames and HP Omen, is a novel spectator game that challenges the esports audience to use their knowledge of Counterstrike Global or CS:GO teams, competitions, and the metagame to build their own roster of esports athletes or Entities. Entities that you have selected into the Roster will score points when they achieve objectives such as kills and map objectives during the course of the live esports match.
“Fan Contest” utilizes a ‘Stacking mechanic’ to allow the esports audiences to build a dream Roster consisting of star players and teams to the esports audience by allowing them to change, stack and unstack Entities in real-time. This allows users to manipulate their rosters by stacking and unstacking, ultimately, offering real-time and dynamic decision making so that the audience can play alongside their favorite teams and players.
The novel method in which the “Fan Contest” applies game mechanics and dynamics means that esports is no longer a passive spectacle but is now an experiential experience.
