Ticket2Me diversifies services to meet emerging market needs

Digital ticketing platform Ticket2Me saw the opportunity to shift a part of its business offerings as a response to the changing market needs brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The startup came up with two new services capturing two different market segments: Dok2Me and digital web series production.

In May, Ticket2Me established Dok2Me, a new patient scheduling platform that facilitates online consultations with doctors of different specializations. It has started preparations on the productions of its first digital web series, “Boys’ Lockdown,” with a schedule released in September 2020.

The imposed lockdowns may have caused anxiety amid the uncertainty of the global health crisis. Businesses have closed down and people lost their source of income. Ticket2Me recognized the need to address the issue leveraging its infrastructure and technical expertise.

“We needed to innovate ourselves out of the crisis,” said Darwin Mariano, founder and CEO, Ticket2Me. “If we waited, hoping to see the COVID-19 crisis blow over quickly, we would be in worse shape now. Repurposing our platform to help raise funds for various causes and manage appointments between doctors and patients gave us a unique vantage point — we saw how dramatically the market was changing real-time and what we needed to do to survive. Our integrated ticketing and video streaming platform is the direct result of what we learned during the early days of the crisis.”

Ticket2Me is the country’s fastest-growing ticketing and event technology company with more than 11,000 combined cash and online payment options throughout the Philippines. Event organizers, venues, and ticket buyers may access the platform and buy tickets via http://www.ticket2me.net and the Ticket2Me iOS and Android apps.

“Content development is always a complementary strategy to accomplish our growth objectives,” Mariano said. “Pre-COVID-19, this meant producing plays and musicals to help build scale and strengthen awareness for our ticketing system. Now that everything has shifted online, our digital series hopes to achieve this for our integrated ticketing and video platform. Whatever we learn from this, we will share with our clients to help them successfully manage the transition from offline to online content.”

COVID-19 fund-raising

The startup is also one of the first to mobilize its resources and network at the onset of COVID-19 gathering funds and offering services.

In March, Mariano immediately reached out to the Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership to discuss ways to aid the country’s health frontliners. The result was a fundraising campaign in coordination with the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo, that raised millions to help provide personal protective equipment and food and care packages for the health workers. Ticket2Me also initiated what would later become the Open House campaign, an online fundraising project by Artist Welfare Project, Philstage, SPIT MNL, Third World Improv, and the Theater Actor’s Guild and Ticket2Me, for the benefit of the performing arts community.
