Along with the announcement that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has increased its tax collection by 8.6%, the government agency said it will also accelerate its digital transformation program to provide better services.
From 2022’s P2.16 trillion to November 2023’s P2.34 trillion, BIR saw an increase in tax collection, with 69% of taxpayers opting for electronic filing methods.
The government agency’s objective revolves around establishing dependable and accessible tax filing procedures, expecting further enhancements in tax collection.

“Our digital transformation (DX) program aims to convert the Bureau into a data-driven organization by utilizing reliable, scalable, and robust digital technologies that elevate taxpayer experience,” the BIR said in a media advisory.
The DX Program includes various initiatives such as the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), Project 230X, Online Tax Clearance, Electronic Invoicing/Receipting and Sales Reporting System (EIS), Enhancement of One-Time Transaction (ONETT) System, Optimized Chatbot Review, Enhanced Digital Queueing System, and E-Appointment services.
“These projects are intended to provide taxpayers with modern, convenient, and accessible tools, as well as improve the Bureau’s internal processes to ensure efficient public service delivery,” BIR said.
