Businesses are leaning on artificial intelligence (AI) and modern networks to boost growth, according to new research from network security company Cisco.
The report found that 45% of IT leaders believe a modernized network’s biggest contribution to revenue will come from using AI tools to automate and improve customer journeys. These tools can help deliver faster, more personalized experiences that may increase customer loyalty.
“As businesses in the Philippines and around the world harness the power of AI, the network is the critical backbone that makes it all possible,” said Zaza Soriano-Nicart, managing director, Cisco Philippines.
Today’s networks are already helping many businesses see financial returns through better customer service (69%), improved efficiency (73%), and more innovation (55%). But Cisco warns that these gains are at risk if companies rely on networks not built for AI.
In the Philippines, most companies consider networks a top priority. About 97% of organizations say a modernized network is key to rolling out AI, cloud, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. A majority or 99% of IT leaders plan to increase the share of their IT budgets for networking.
“To meet the needs of tomorrow’s businesses and protect against evolving threats, today’s networks must be faster, smarter, and more resilient,” Soriano-Nicart said. “Businesses must recognize that a modernized network is key to driving future growth and success.”
Cisco said improved network infrastructure helps unlock business value. About 93% of IT leaders expect better networks to drive revenue, while 97% see potential cost savings through smarter, more secure, and more flexible systems.
The study highlighted that modern networks can also reduce outages caused by traffic overload, cyberattacks, or errors in setup.
But challenges remain. Sixty-five percent (65%) of respondents say their data centers still fall short of current AI requirements. Most (92%) plan to expand capacity through cloud, on-premise systems, or both.
Almost all leaders (99%) believe that autonomous, AI-powered networks are key to future growth. However, only 56% have adopted key features like segmentation, visibility, and control to help their networks adapt in real time.
To reach full potential, IT leaders said they must fix several key issues: fragmented systems (58%), unfinished deployments (63%), and manual processes (58%).
Overall, 93% said upgraded networks will directly drive revenue, while 97% expect cost savings from smoother operations, fewer outages, and lower energy use.
