Commvault bolsters cyber resilience solutions with Appranix acquisition

Commvault x Appranix

Commvault, a cyber resilience and data protection solutions provider for the hybrid cloud, has acquired Appranix, a cloud cyber resilience company. This acquisition aims to equip enterprises with enhanced capabilities to swiftly recover and resume operations following outages or cyberattacks, a critical need in today’s digital landscape.

“We are taking resilience to the next level by marrying Commvault’s extensive risk, readiness, and recovery capabilities with Appranix’s next-generation cloud-native rebuild capabilities,” said Sanjay Mirchandani, president and CEO, Commvault.

Statista‘s data underscores the severity of downtime following ransomware attacks, averaging a staggering 24 days. Recognizing the urgency, Commvault aims to empower organizations by enabling rapid data recovery through automation and cutting-edge cleanroom offerings.

However, the scope extends beyond mere data recovery, encompassing the intricate dependencies crucial for rebuilding critical cloud applications, including networking, DNS configuration, application load balancing, and security group access, among others. Appranix brings to the table automated solutions addressing these dependencies, potentially slashing rebuild times from days or weeks to mere hours or minutes in some cases.

“We share a common vision to go beyond traditional backups and disaster recovery,” said Govind Rangasamy, founder and CEO of Appranix. “Our combined technologies will offer comprehensive, unmatched resilience capabilities for businesses globally.”

The integration of Appranix’s technology into Commvault’s portfolio is anticipated to be completed this year. In the interim, customers can leverage Appranix for their cloud application discovery and rebuild requirements through the AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure marketplaces, signaling a seamless transition toward bolstered cyber resilience capabilities.
