Globe launches digital-only prepaid eSIM

Globe is set to introduce digital eSIM for mobile users marking a significant shift away from the conventional way of obtaining and managing physical SIM cards. This innovation ushers in a new era where activating and managing mobile services becomes as easy as a few taps on the screen.

“At Globe, we’re always looking ahead, anticipating the needs of our customers in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The prepaid eSIM captures our vision of a seamless, digital-first mobile experience, marrying innovation with convenience,” Darius Delgado, head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

Globe’s prepaid eSIM will be available by the end of the month exclusively accessible through the GlobeOne app.

How to purchase an eSIM:

  1. Download the free GlobeOne app.
  2. Set up a GlobeOne account.
  3. Request a new eSIM.

This transition to a digital-only model ensures that Globe’s customers are no longer inconvenienced by in-store visits or physical SIM card deliveries, making the shift to eSIM both sustainable and efficient.

eSIM enables users to install multiple eSIMs on selected devices, enabling the use of two phone numbers simultaneously. The eSIM technology can be employed in devices other than mobile phones, such as smartwatches, facilitating seamless connectivity under a single mobile number. This technology is compatible with the Apple Watch cellular, allowing Globe Prepaid iPhone users to venture out with just their Apple Watch and remain connected even without their iPhone.

The introduction of the prepaid eSIM also carries significant environmental benefits. By digitizing the SIM card process, eSIM technology eliminates the need for plastic and the logistics associated with creating physical SIM cards, thereby reducing associated carbon emissions.
