Globe, a digital solutions provider, is overhauling its network infrastructure with energy-efficient solutions. The company said that harnessing advanced technology enables sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
Globe has achieved reductions in power consumption and carbon emissions by adopting innovative solutions and phasing out outdated equipment. According to recent reports, the company has slashed power consumption by approximately 3,808 MWh and reduced carbon emissions by 2,811 metric tons.
One key innovation driving this transformation is the implementation of system-on-chip-based plug-in cards. These cards have not only doubled the number of supported cells but also halved energy consumption, allowing for greater scalability and site coverage while minimizing environmental impact. Globe has leveraged this technology to significantly decrease power consumption in base stations across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
“Our commitment is to deliver exceptional service while ensuring that we contribute positively to environmental sustainability, with initiatives that reflect our forward-thinking approach to technology and our responsibility towards future generations,” said Joel Agustin, SVP for Network Planning and Engineering, Globe.
Globe has embarked on a comprehensive program to phase out obsolete equipment, replacing it with more efficient and modern alternatives. This initiative aims to mitigate the environmental impact associated with electronic waste and ensure the company remains at the forefront of sustainable practices.
These efforts align with Globe’s long-term goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with global initiatives to combat climate change. Moving forward, the company remains dedicated to capitalizing on energy-efficient solutions to further reduce power consumption and carbon emissions, continuing its journey toward sustainability and efficiency.
