Google Philippines HQ

Google is introducing a new program called the News AI Lab to support journalists and media organizations in the Philippines in using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve how news is produced, distributed, and monetized.

The News AI Lab is open to individuals, but it is designed especially for news publishers, digital media channels, and content creators based in the country. The program seeks to help participants adopt AI tools in their day-to-day operations, particularly those from digital-first newsrooms or those exploring new ways to create and deliver content.

The 18-month program begins on July 11, 2025, and will run until Jan. 11, 2027. It is divided into three phases:

Google said the program is designed to offer long-term value to newsrooms by helping them understand and apply AI in practical ways.

Registration for the News AI Lab closes at 6 p.m. (GMT+8) on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Interested individuals or organizations can apply through the official News AI Lab signup page.
