JCB is marking 30 years in the Philippine payments market, coinciding with the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines in 2026.

The Japanese payment brand, which entered the Philippines in 1996, said the anniversary shows three decades of working with local banks, merchants, and cardholders while strengthening commercial and cultural ties between the two countries. The company has expanded its presence through payment acceptance, travel privileges, merchant partnerships, and collaborations with Japanese brands operating in both Japan and the Philippines.

“For us, this milestone is a celebration of the lasting relationships, shared experiences, and cultural connections JCB has built with Filipino cardholders over the past three decades,” said Wataru Tamura, country manager, JCB Philippines. “JCB remains committed to serving as a bridge between the two nations by creating meaningful partnerships and introducing more Filipino people to Japanese culture.”

As part of the dual celebration, JCB will hold a three-day anniversary event at the SM Mega Fashion Hall from Sept. 25 to 27, bringing together cardholders, banking partners, merchants, and guests. The event will showcase Japanese culture and highlight JCB’s role in supporting cross-border commerce and consumer engagement between the two markets.

JCB is also rolling out year-long promotions for cardholders, including a ₱30 Japan visa application fee from July 1 to 31, a $30 discount on Japan Airlines flights booked from July 15 to 31, ₱30 ramen at Ramen Kuroda every Tuesday from July 14 to Sept. 29, and 30% discounts at Mitsukoshi Fresh and Beauty from July 16 to Aug. 16.

Tamura also noted that through these exclusive promotions and collaborations, JCB hopes to bring people closer to the richness of Japanese culture and the warmth of Filipino hospitality, while creating memorable experiences that inspire future journeys together.

JCB said it will continue to evolve with the changing needs of Filipino consumers while maintaining its focus on trust, innovation, and hospitality.
