Lenovo has rolled out a new set of ThinkShield Solutions designed to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), schools, and other groups with limited IT support protect themselves from growing cyber threats. These new tools are part of Lenovo’s ThinkShield portfolio of business-grade cybersecurity products.
Many hackers now focus on smaller organizations because they often lack strong security systems. Reports show that SMBs face most of these attacks, with average losses reaching around $255,000 per incident. Schools, which store sensitive data about young people, have also been common targets. Between 2018 and mid-September 2023, ransomware attacks on schools affected over 6.7 million personal records and caused more than $53 billion in downtime globally.
Despite the risks, many SMBs and schools do not have the tools or plans in place to respond to cyberattacks. Some lack formal training or proper security policies, making them more vulnerable.
“Even though SMBs and schools are frequently attacked, many suffer under the misperception that they are either too small to be a target or their resources are too limited for right-purpose security solutions to be within their budgets,” said Nima Baiati, executive director and general manager, commercial cybersecurity solutions, Lenovo.
Security tools built for small teams
The new ThinkShield Solutions are designed to be easy to set up and manage, especially for organizations with small IT teams. They include:
- ThinkShield Extended Detection & Response (XDR): Uses AI to detect, prevent, and respond to threats across emails, networks, cloud systems, and devices.
- ThinkShield Data Defense Select: Protects files and storage devices using encryption and multi-factor authentication. It also prevents data loss on Lenovo PCs and beyond.
- ThinkShield Hardware Defense: Helps track all connected hardware and alerts users to known risks, making it easier to manage devices and fix issues.
The new ThinkShield Solutions are now available in selected markets.
