Lenovo Philippines promotes inclusion and sustainability through local initiatives

Lenovo Philippines is actively supporting inclusion, environmental sustainability, and social impact through a range of local initiatives aimed at empowering women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and underserved communities. This commitment is part of the company’s broader global sustainability goals outlined in its latest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report.

“Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our mission in the Philippines,” said Michael Ngan, president and general manager of Lenovo Philippines. “By fostering a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, we’re better positioned to innovate and address the needs of our customers in the Philippine market.”

Through the Women in Lenovo Leadership initiative, Lenovo has increased female representation within its executive team, with women now making up 61% of Lenovo Philippines’ workforce. Lenovo’s partnership with the Davao-based organization Virtualahan further supports the digital skill development of PWDs, empowering them to thrive in technology-driven fields.

On the environmental front, Lenovo is committed to minimizing its carbon footprint and increasing sustainable practices. The company has ramped up product recycling through its Product End-of-Life Management (PELM) program, resulting in the reuse or recycling of over 94,000 metric tons of products since 2020.

Lenovo’s dedication extends to local community service. During its Lenovo Month of Service, employees in the Philippines volunteered in activities such as STEM education at Better World Smokey Mountain in Tondo, Manila. Students participated in interactive sessions on meal preparation, composting, and water filtration, with Lenovo also donating books and toys.

“Our aim is to create opportunities for all, including women and PWDs, to contribute to the tech industry and support our nation’s growth,” Ngan said.
