Technology company Lenovo said it remains on track to meet its goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative, according to its FY 2024/25 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report.

The report shows the nearing completion of Lenovo’s first generation of ESG key performance indicators, with the company reporting steady progress across many of its targets.

“With our first generation of key performance indicators nearing completion, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made and are focused on building the foundation for our next chapter of ESG leadership,” said Dave Carroll, senior vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate responsibility officer of Lenovo.

Lenovo said it is increasing its efforts in the circular economy by continuing to use closed-loop recycled materials in its products. The company also offers services that help customers repair, recycle, and reuse devices to extend their lifespan and reduce waste.

On the social front, Lenovo said its impact continues to grow. In 2024, it was again named a Best Workplace for People with Disabilities by Disability:IN in the United States. The company also brought this recognition to the United Kingdom and Brazil by applying the same standards globally.

During its annual Love on Month of Service, Lenovo employees reached 44% more people through volunteer work compared to the previous year, the report said.

In terms of governance, Lenovo introduced an AI governance policy in 2024 to support its Smarter AI for All initiative. The policy aligns with commitments made to several organizations, including the Canadian Government, Unesco, Cercle InterL, and the European Commission.

Doug Fisher, who was already serving as chief security officer, also became Lenovo’s chief AI officer this year, a move the company said strengthens its responsible innovation efforts.

Lenovo said it will continue to work with partners and suppliers, such as through its Lenovo 360 Circle, to support a more sustainable and inclusive future.
