Palo Alto Networks, a cybersecurity company, has introduced Cortex Cloud, a new cloud security platform designed to detect and stop attacks in real-time. The platform integrates cloud detection and response (CDR) with cloud-native application protection (CNAPP) on the company’s Cortex platform.
Unit 42, Palo Alto Networks’ research unit, reports that 80% of security issues are linked to cloud attack surfaces, with threats increasing by 66%. As more businesses use cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI), Cortex Cloud brings together data, automates processes, and uses AI insights to lower risks and prevent attacks. It also works with third-party security tools to offer a full view of cloud security.
“As more critical business applications move to the cloud, cloud security must expand to include industry-leading runtime protection,” said Lee Klarich, chief product officer of Palo Alto Networks. “And to make it as easy as possible for our customers to adopt end-to-end cloud security, we’re including CNAPP at no additional cost for every Cortex Cloud Runtime Security customer.”

Cortex Cloud features security for applications, cloud risk management, and runtime protection. It prevents security issues during development, detects vulnerabilities, and offers automated fixes. The platform also includes a Security Operations Center (SOC) tool that improves response times by integrating cloud data and security workflows.
Current Prisma Cloud customers will be upgraded to Cortex Cloud, which will be available later in Q3 FY25. Integration partners such as CyberCX, Deloitte, IBM, and Orange Cyberdefense will help organizations improve security operations and efficiency.
