PLDT Home is urging Filipino families to include communication planning in their emergency preparedness efforts, citing the growing importance of quick access to emergency hotlines during disasters and urgent situations.
The company said households should not only stock food, water, flashlights, batteries, and medicines, but also prepare clear ways to contact emergency responders, barangays, hospitals, and relatives when emergencies happen.
PLDT Home said a dedicated landline remains useful in many homes because it provides a fixed and familiar communication option for children, seniors, and household helpers who may need to call for help quickly.
The reminder comes as emergency hotline usage continues to increase in the Philippines. The Philippine Information Agency reported that the Unified 911 Emergency Hotline handled more than 5.2 million calls from January to April 2026.
PLDT Home encouraged families to post emergency contact numbers in visible areas such as beside the telephone, on refrigerators, near doors, or inside emergency kits so anyone at home can access them immediately.
The company listed key emergency numbers that families may keep on hand, including:
• National Emergency Hotline: 911
• Philippine National Police: 117 / (02) 8722-0650
• Philippine Red Cross: 143
• MMDA Hotline: 136
Families are also encouraged to regularly update barangay, city, municipal, hospital, and local rescue hotlines, which may provide faster assistance depending on the situation.
PLDT Home said children and seniors should also be taught how to call emergency responders properly, including how to provide their name, address, and details about the emergency.
The company added that communication should be treated as an essential part of every family emergency plan alongside basic survival supplies.
Through its fiber internet plans bundled with landline services, PLDT Home said it aims to help Filipino households maintain reliable communication options for both daily use and emergency situations.
