PLDT, Smart report minimal network disruption, restoration underway after typhoon

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) have deployed their North Luzon network team to conduct risk assessment in areas heavily impacted by super typhoon Karding.

“Based on the initial assessment of our team, the impact of typhoon Karding on PLDT and Smart’s network is not as heavy and disruptions reported can be considered minimal. Our command center will continue to monitor the situation,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and group Head for Corporate Communications at PLDT & Smart.

According to PLDT and Smart, the networks withstood the onslaught of super typhoon Karding. However, customers in some areas may experience service quality issues after some sites were impacted by the typhoon.
