Review: ASUS NUC 15 Pro is small but ready for everyday work

I spent the past few weeks using the ASUS NUC 15 Pro as my main tool for work, content creation, and daily productivity. Though I haven’t relied on a desktop in years, decades of experience as an office-based writer made the switch “quite” effortless.

The ASUS NUC 15 Pro is a compact, powerful PC that fits on a desk or behind a monitor, making it ideal for office work, remote collaboration, and light content creation. Despite its small size, it handles multiple apps, high-resolution monitors, and AI-assisted tasks without slowing down.

What I immediately noticed was that it behaves like a full‑sized desktop, not a cramped “mini PC.” There’s no hesitation when I switch between browser tabs or jump between documents.

In my workflow, including dozens of browser tabs, writing, researching, and video editing, this unit never once felt underpowered or overwhelmed. (OK, I did some adjustments when it comes to PC and keyboard commands.)

Let’s check out the design and build first.

The NUC 15 Pro is, well, tiny at roughly 117 × 112 × 54 mm. However, it still feels solid and well‑built. In a typical office setup, it fits easily behind monitors or in tight desk spaces without clutter. Build quality is sturdy, giving confidence it won’t rattle or degrade over time. So, in my tiny workspace, I have to say, it fits perfectly. While it has enterprise-grade features, it is also a good choice for those with limited workspaces, say those living in condominiums.

One of the most welcome design choices is the tool‑free chassis access. The NUC’s spring-loaded, tool-free design makes it easy to add memory or a second SSD quickly. This feature is especially useful in office environments where IT teams need to upgrade systems with minimal downtime. Or in some cases, if you use it at home.

Thermal management here is effective. During long periods of heavy use, like long meetings, simultaneous cloud syncing, and multimedia tasks, the NUC stays warm but not overheated. Noise levels are noticeable under load, but not distracting. In a typical office environment with background noise, it may be unnoticeable.

Some small PCs suddenly get loud under heavy use, but this NUC keeps a steady, manageable noise level that won’t disturb an office.

Performance

I intentionally kept over 20 browser tabs open, had a video streaming app running, left video calls active even when idle, and ran video editing tools in the background.

The system never felt slow. Switching between apps was quick, and background tasks didn’t get in the way of what I was working on. I believe that’s because of the combination of the 16‑core CPU, fast DDR5 memory, and integrated Intel Arc graphics, all working together without bottlenecks.

The NUC has two HDMI 2.1 ports and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. In everyday use, it can run smoothly with several monitors hooked up. I used just one and there’s no flickering, no slowdown. I could have multiple browser windows, dashboards, and communication apps open at the same time, and switching between them was seamless.

ASUS talks a lot about AI features and “Copilot+ support,” and while it’s been marketed heavily, in real use they do make a difference. Tasks like removing background noise during calls, quick photo edits, or live transcription run quietly in the background without slowing the system. You don’t feel like the computer is struggling, it just gets the job done faster than if you were relying on cloud tools.

As more software starts using AI, having a machine that can handle it locally will save time and keep things running smoothly.

Connectivity

The NUC comes with Wi‑Fi 7, the newest Wi‑Fi standard, and a fast 2.5 Gb Ethernet port for wired connections. But we used Wi-Fi 6 In the tests and it stayed stable even when several devices were connected at the same time. Wired connections were quick and reliable for sharing files or connecting to servers.

It also has all the ports you’re likely to need: Thunderbolt 4, USB‑C, USB‑A, and HDMI 2.1. Most devices just plug in and work, no extra adapters needed. Thunderbolt 4 also allows you connect faster external drives or docking stations in the future if you want to expand.

The NUC includes features like Intel vPro and TPM, which provide extra security for business use. ASUS said this makes it easy for IT teams to manage multiple units, apply security rules, and protect company data without relying on extra software.

In my experience, the ASUS NUC 15 Pro really delivered when you need a reliable machine for everyday work. It is designed to handle office tasks and team collaboration smoothly, allows users to run multiple monitors at once, manages light AI (Gemini) tasks without slowing down, makes it easy to preview and edit photos or videos, and keeps everything connected with fast networking for remote work.

If you need a small PC that performs reliably every day, this is one of the few mini PCs that promises to deliver. It handled everything I asked of it without slowing down or acting unpredictable. Many small PCs compromise on speed for size, but this one strikes a good balance, making it a solid alternative to a full desktop.

No computer is perfect, and the NUC has a few things to keep in mind. It’s not built for heavy gaming or 3D work, the graphics handle office tasks, light editing, and video previews just fine, but is not designed to match a gaming PC or a high-end creative workstation. While I’m a pretty easy and light workload person, any PC or even laptop that you push with demanding tasks for a long time, the fans may get louder, though it’s still fine in a typical office setting. Also, the HDMI 2.1 ports run at 60 Hz by default, which is more than enough for regular work but not ideal if you’re looking for high-refresh gaming.

None of these are deal-breakers for office or business use, or especially for personal use, but it’s worth knowing if your needs include gaming or very high-end graphics work. In a nutshell, this works for offices, or in my case, work from home setup not only because of the size but also because of the features that make it ideal for my daily tasks in maintaining a website and social media accounts. But for offices, maybe for startups and small businesses that don’t require heavy workloads, this is ideal both in size and features.
