The Social Security System (SSS) and Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) announced the development of the MySSS Card, which combines an SSS-issued functional ID with a UnionBank-powered Visa debit card.

The new card builds on an earlier partnership that began in 2022, which has already issued hundreds of thousands of cards.

“This partnership marks a major step forward in making government services more accessible and efficient for our members,” said Robert Joseph De Claro, president and CEO of SSS. “The MySSS Card empowers our members with a secure and convenient way to receive their benefits, while also serving as an official SSS-recognized ID.”

The MySSS Card will allow members to receive benefits, loans, and refunds directly through a UnionBank savings account. Members can apply online through the UnionBank Online app to get a Visa debit card that can be used for local and international transactions, digital payments, and mobile banking.

“Together with SSS, we are once again reimagining what banking can be like for millions of Filipinos,” said Ana Aboitiz Delgado, president and CEO of UnionBank. “This new product will allow SSS members with a PhilSys ID to get a MySSS Card, broadening the eligible base to over 40 million Filipinos. We are proud to be partners in this initiative that enhances financial inclusion.”

SSS said the MySSS Card is meant for Filipinos who prefer digital services and want simpler ways to handle financial and government transactions.

The agency advised members to wait for the official release of the card.
