The “Geeks on a Beach (GOAB)” conference will be back in Cebu from Nov. 13 to 15, 2024. This is the 7th year of GOAB, an international gathering focused on innovation and startups.
To be held at JPark Island Resort & Waterpark in Mactan Island, the event is co-organized by GeeksPH and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The aim is to boost the Philippine startup ecosystem and attract investment opportunities in the Southeast Asian region.
“GOAB is a non-profit organization that brings together founders, creatives, government agencies, and investors to strengthen the startup landscape,” said Dave Overton, co-founder of GOAB and CEO of Symph. He added that Cebu is an ideal location due to its economic growth and booming tech sector.
The conference will feature masterclasses, keynote presentations, and breakout sessions covering sectors like fintech, healthtech, and agritech. Attendees will also participate in networking events and discussions between investors and founders.
“GOAB fosters a supportive community for startups,” said Tina Amper, another GOAB organizer. “It offers real benefits, from inspiration to collaboration, which can lead to long-term success.”
Over 500 entrepreneurs, investors, and global leaders are expected to attend. The event will also highlight the government’s efforts to support innovation through the Innovative Startup Act.
“We invite all sectors to participate,” said Amper. “By connecting and sharing ideas, we can help grow the entire ecosystem and uplift the economy.”
