Valorant, a character-based 5v5 tactical shooter developed by Riot Games, is marking its fifth year with a month-long celebration that puts Filipino players and gaming communities at the center. Riot Games Philippines has launched a campaign that honors the role Pinoy gamers have played in shaping the popular tactical shooter’s local presence.
“Our anniversary celebration aims to relive the many moments that we made with Valorant over the last five years,” said Jason Roberto, brand manager for Valorant at Riot Games Philippines. “We want to make every Filipino gamer take pride in the important role they have been playing in bringing Valorant to where it is today, and of course, show our players that the best is yet to come for Valorant.”
The celebration runs from June to July and includes online and offline activities. Riot kicked off the campaign with a tribute video and will soon roll out “Humans of Valorant,” a visual story series about everyday Filipino players. A special feature on gaming creators like Damods, Razzie, and Amara is also part of the lineup.
On the ground, Riot is bringing murals to life across Metro Manila. One of the biggest can be found at the Tenement Basketball Courts in Taguig City, hand-painted by Filipino muralist Jappy Agoncillo. The artworks reflect local Valorant milestones and fan experiences.
Adding a fun, local twist, Riot will also launch Jeepney Karaokes, traditional jeepneys turned into mobile karaoke booths, bringing the sounds and spirit of Valorant into public spaces.
Valorant was first launched as a closed beta during the pandemic. It has since grown into a game played by over 35 million people monthly, with a large Gen Z player base. Its most recent tournament in 2024 reached over 44 million unique viewers, placing it among the most-watched FPS esports globally.
