Zed, a fintech firm, has launched its Android app, giving access to most of the nearly 200,000 people on its waitlist and widening the reach of its digital credit card in the Philippines.

Built in Silicon Valley and licensed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Zed offers a credit card designed for young professionals. The company said its platform focuses on how Filipinos spend today, including online shopping, travel, and splitting bills, while reducing hidden charges and security risks.

With the Android rollout, users can access Zed’s digital credit features such as unlimited virtual cards with real-time spending controls, zero foreign transaction fees with no foreign exchange markup, peer-to-peer payments on credit, and contactless payments through Google Pay. Zed was among the first credit card issuers to go live on Google Pay in the Philippines in November.

“Android unlocks scale for us,” said Danielle Cojuangco Abraham, co-founder of Zed. “We’re now able to bring features like unlimited virtual cards, zero FX fees, and seamless peer-to-peer payments to far more Filipinos who have been waiting for a better credit experience.”

Zed said its virtual cards address online fraud concerns. Cardholders can create unlimited virtual cards for specific merchants, set spending limits, and set cards to expire after one use or within 24 hours. These cards also work with Google Pay for in-store and online purchases without exposing main card details.

For travelers, Zed said it charges no foreign transaction fees and applies no markup on exchange rates, allowing users to pay at the posted rate abroad or on international websites.

The app also allows users to split bills by charging payments to their credit line and settling at the end of the billing cycle. Large purchases can be converted into installments in-app at a flat 1% monthly rate, with no early repayment penalties.
