Aerodyne, a drone solutions provider based in Malaysia, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to address industrial challenges using drone data.
The collaboration between AWS and Aerodyne centers on leveraging AWS’ infrastructure to boost Aerodyne’s DRONOS platform, enabling drone operators worldwide to optimize operations across various sectors like telecommunications, agriculture, surveillance, logistics, and energy industries spanning 45 countries.
Key industries, such as power companies and mobile network operators, are increasingly relying on drones to gather operational data. Aerodyne utilizes AWS services like Amazon S3 for a data lake, housing diverse drone data types (images, satellite, agriculture, weather) converted into actionable insights. Amazon SageMaker facilitates automated analysis on mobile phone towers and farm fields, streamlining processes in telecommunications and precision agriculture.

Usually, manual inspections of cell towers involved risky human riggers climbing hundreds of feet. Drones automate this, ensuring safety while accelerating inspection times from two days to just three hours. For example, in agriculture, Aerodyne’s Agrimor platform, powered by DRONOS and AWS, aids farmers in identifying crop issues promptly, enhancing yields by up to 67% and optimizing resource use.

According to the two companies, the collaboration doubled Aerodyne’s revenue annually since 2014. The integration of ML on AWS has expedited the deployment of 5G antennae by over 90%, reduced operational costs for cellular towers by 20%, and slashed manual data processing expenses by more than 70%.
