Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing unit of the Alibaba Group, has introduced the English-language version of its open-source AI model community, ModelScope, aiming to extend the reach of generative AI (GenAI) to more businesses and developers globally.
ModelScope builds on the “Model-as-a-Service” concept, which Alibaba Cloud coined to describe the transformation of AI models into readily available and deployable services. According to the cloud company, since its launch in mainland China in 2022, ModelScope has grown to become the country’s largest AI model community, attracting over 5 million developers.
With this new English version, developers worldwide will gain access to more than 5,000 advanced AI models from Alibaba Cloud and other leading Chinese AI startups, such as Baichuan and Zhipu. The platform also includes user-contributed models, fostering a diverse and robust AI ecosystem.
ModelScope offers a wealth of tools and resources designed to help developers realize their AI projects. The platform features over 1,500 high-quality Chinese-language datasets and an extensive range of toolkits to support data processing. Developers can also leverage various modules to customize model inference, training, and evaluation with minimal coding effort.
