Alibaba Group’s cloud unit Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen models, the flagship large language models (LLMs), hit a milestone in enterprise adoption, with over 90,000 deployments since June last year.
This achievement proves the accelerating demand for artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across industries, from consumer electronics to gaming, positioning Qwen as a sought-after choice in China’s AI landscape.
The Qwen family’s success is attributed to Alibaba Cloud’s generative AI (GenAI) platform, Model Studio, which serves as a gateway for enterprise users to leverage advanced AI capabilities. Beyond enterprise deployments, over 2.2 million corporate users accessed Qwen-powered AI services via DingTalk, Alibaba’s intelligent collaboration platform.
“It’s been an exciting journey so far to witness the robust and growing momentum of our family of large language models Qwen, which is truly embraced by our enterprise customers and we have seen so many creative applications of the models from across the industries,” said Jingren Zhou, CTO of Alibaba Cloud.
Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to open-source initiatives has led to over 7 million downloads of the Qwen series across platforms like Hugging Face and Github. ModelScope, China’s largest AI model community, now boasts over 4,000 models, fostering a developer base of 5 million actively engaged individuals.
Integration of Qwen models into consumer electronics and gaming industries highlights their versatility and impact. Xiaomi, a consumer electronics company, has incorporated Qwen into its AI assistant, enabling features like image generation and comprehension in smartphones and smart vehicles.
Alibaba Cloud continues to improve Model Studio to cater to corporate clients’ evolving needs. The platform offers a comprehensive suite of services for developers, simplifying AI model development and fostering innovation. With a broader spectrum of models and advanced AI tools, Model Studio empowers developers to create sophisticated AI applications efficiently.
The introduction of Qwen2.5 will enable advancements in reasoning, code comprehension, and textual understanding. As part of its contribution to the open-source community, Alibaba Cloud offers various sizes of Qwen models, including CodeQwen1.5-7B optimized for code applications.
