Alibaba Cloud, the cloud unit of Alibaba Group, is reducing its prices for core public cloud products by up to 59%. The adjustments apply to services accessed through the company’s international data centers outside mainland China.

The revised pricing strategy includes five essential categories of public cloud products, including compute, storage, network, database, and big data. On average, customers can expect a 23% reduction in prices across these categories.

“Our commitment lies in making sure that the foundation for (artificial intelligence) AI development remains affordable,” said Selina Yuan, president of the International Business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “Our latest pricing strategy is designed not only to reward long-term subscribers with more substantial discounts but also to ensure that businesses can have a stable foundation to develop their long-term strategies.”

The updated pricing applies to both existing and new customers who place orders through the official Alibaba Cloud website. Highlights of the announcement include reductions in various payment models of Elastic Compute Service (ECS), with potential cost savings of up to 30% for pay-as-you-go billing and up to 59% for Elastic Block Storage (EBS).

Database and big data products

To enhance cost-efficiency over the next year, a new Object Storage Service (OSS)-Resource plan enables customers to reserve storage capacity in a specific region for one year at significantly reduced rates. For instance, a one-year package of the 500 GB storage plan, popular among SMEs, has been reduced from $63 to $16.99.

Customers utilizing database products and big data products will also benefit from price reductions in long-term subscription plans, with potential savings of up to 50% over periods ranging from one to five years.

Alibaba Cloud has increased the free monthly usage of its Cloud Data Transfer Service from 20GB to 200GB for international customers. This network product provides control over the volume and cost of data transfers incurred across services, thereby enhancing transparency and cost management.
