Ant International, a digital payment and financial services provider, announced its support for nearly 100 million micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) worldwide. The company reinforced its commitment to MSME digitalization and inclusion through service expansions, skills development programs with industry partners, and a new global campaign.
“MSMEs are the lifeblood of our economies, driving innovation, employment, and inclusive development,” said Douglas Feagin, president of Ant International.
Feagin emphasized the significance of small businesses and their potential to make an impact. He highlighted that fintech innovations are unlocking new possibilities for small businesses to compete globally. Ant International, in partnership with various entities, aims to provide businesses with the necessary tools and knowledge to achieve their goals.
Ant International’s Alipay+ has expanded its global acceptance, now accepted by over 90 million merchants in 66 markets. This service connects businesses to users of 30 international payment partners, enabling small businesses to engage with global mobile-first consumers. Integration with national QR codes in Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea has shown significant transaction increases, indicating successful digitalization efforts among MSMEs.
Digitalizing operations of small businesses
The company’s digital payment solutions support merchants of all sizes in over 40 countries and regions. Antom, another offering, connects merchants to over 250 payment methods across 150 markets. Its D-store solution allows MSMEs to digitalize operations and set up online stores with zero upfront costs. Over 5000 outlets have adopted this solution, with notable transaction growth.
WorldFirst, part of Ant International, empowers over one million SMEs with international payments in over 100 currencies. ANEXT Bank, based in Singapore, saw a significant increase in its customer base, primarily micro businesses, and introduced initiatives to further support regional MSMEs.
Ant International recently launched bettr, a global digital lending service aimed at providing micro-lending to MSMEs through embedded finance partnerships, enhancing financial inclusion.
The company collaborates with industry partners to drive MSME development. In Indonesia, it launched SisBerdaya with DANA, offering training and mentoring to female micro-entrepreneurs. The 10×1000 Tech for Inclusion platform, in partnership with the International Finance Corp., aims to develop digital skills among future leaders. Earlier this year, Ant International introduced Programme Sirius, supported by Asia Pacific fintech leaders, to help MSMEs transition towards sustainability.
