In line with Apple’s environmental commitment, the company unveiled the new Mac mini, a compact desktop that marks its first carbon-neutral Mac. Designed to be powerful yet sustainable, the new Mac mini is powered by Apple’s M4 and M4 Pro chips and offers advanced features in a space-efficient design.

With the M4 chip, users experience a significant performance increase, with the Mac mini operating at 1.8 times the CPU speed and over twice the GPU speed compared to previous models. For users with demanding tasks, the M4 Pro version provides additional processing power.

Apple has also integrated its Apple Intelligence system into the Mac mini, focusing on user privacy and enhancing productivity.

At just 5 by 5 inches, the new Mac mini takes up half the space of its predecessor. This reduced size is made possible by Apple silicon, which optimizes power efficiency, and a thermal architecture that guides airflow effectively. The compact design doesn’t compromise performance, making it ideal for students, creatives, and small business owners seeking a reliable desktop solution.

Apple’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact is clear in its use of sustainable materials. The Mac mini features over 50% recycled content, including 100% recycled aluminum for the casing and recycled rare earth elements in magnets. Apple also sources 100% renewable electricity to produce the Mac mini and offsets the power used by customers through global clean energy projects.

For the first time, the Mac mini’s packaging is fully fiber-based, supporting Apple’s aim to eliminate plastic packaging by 2025. With a starting price of $599 and a release date of November 8, the new Mac mini offers an environmentally conscious option for those looking for a compact, high-performance desktop.
