The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has introduced Soundbox, an audio-based device that confirms payments made through BPI OneQR. This innovation, a first in the Philippine banking sector, aims to simplify and speed up payment processes for merchants and customers.
Usually, merchants had to rely on SMS notifications to confirm QR code payments. With Soundbox, successful transactions are confirmed instantly through voice alerts. The immediate audio notification enhances the payment experience, reducing wait times and making the process more efficient.
“Soundbox brings QR payments to a higher level, providing an innovative way to confirm payment instantly when using BPI OneQR,” said Rally Jereza, head of BPI Agency Banking.
Merchants benefit from quicker transactions, particularly in busy environments like markets, food stalls, and retail shops. The compact design and instant audio alerts make the device suitable for businesses of all sizes, from small vendors to large chains.
BPI plans to deploy Soundbox in high-traffic sectors such as food and retail, addressing the specific needs of businesses that handle high volumes of transactions. This approach supports faster checkouts, improving the overall customer experience.
