BPI, McDonald’s launch first-of-its-kind app partnership with exclusive in-store deals

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has partnered with McDonald’s Philippines to launch an in-store campaign that links mobile payments with customer rewards. The collaboration allows customers to access exclusive offers on the McDonald’s App, which can be redeemed when paying through the BPI app.

“This partnership with McDonald’s reflects our commitment to giving Filipinos more convenience and value with every payment,” said Maria Cristina “Ginbee” Go, head of consumer banking of BPI. “It’s all about enabling people to Do More and Be More with technology that works seamlessly in real life.”

To mark the launch, BPI app users who pay via QR at any McDonald’s branch can get a free upgrade to Medium Fries and Medium Coke McFloat when they order a Small Double Cheeseburger Meal or a Small 1-pc Chicken McDo Meal.

The Pay via QR feature in the BPI app lets customers go cashless by scanning a merchant’s official QR Ph code, selecting a BPI deposit account for payment, and approving the transaction with Mobile Key. There is no need to transfer funds to other e-wallets.

McDonald’s said the partnership supports its goal of creating meaningful and innovative experiences beyond the counter. The free upsize promo is the first of several monthly BPI-exclusive deals to be offered through the McDonald’s App.

BPI and McDonald’s said the initiative aims to make using both apps more rewarding and to provide customers with simple, accessible ways to combine banking and retail in their everyday purchases.
