The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said reliable data is essential in creating policies that support the needs of Filipinos.
“Data is the lens through which we understand our people’s needs, and the map that helps us reach a better future,” said Rosalia De Leon, Monetary Board Member of the BSP, during the closing ceremony of the 36th National Statistics Month (NSM) at the BSP.
De Leon said data helps the government measure progress and “tells us what is working, what is not, and where we must act with greater urgency.”
This year’s NSM, with the theme “Accelerating the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All,” focused on the importance of accessible and inclusive data in monitoring the country’s progress toward the SDGs.
The month-long observance aimed to show how data informs policies, guides planning, and identifies areas where support is needed.
The activities showed how reliable and well-used data can guide decisions and support programs that aim to improve the lives of Filipinos.
Members of the Philippine Statistical System organized activities throughout October, including panel discussions, scientific sessions, and interactive exhibits. These events brought together participants from government, academe, media, and private organizations.
