The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has launched a mobile app to make financial services and information more accessible to Filipinos and investors.
Launched on April 14, the BSP Mobile app serves as a digital gateway for users to access real-time updates on BSP policies, financial news, and services.
“This new platform aims to enhance your experience and encourage greater interaction with the BSP,” said Charina De Vera-Yap, managing director of the BSP. “Once downloaded, the app can be accessed anytime, even offline, and offers personalization to match your specific needs and interests.”
The app was developed by BSP’s in-house team and is designed for mobile use. It works even without an internet connection and uses push notifications and location services for a more responsive experience.
Tools for public engagement
Among its features are a service locator for BSP offices, real-time notifications, and an interactive 1000-Piso polymer banknote that lets users explore its security features.
Users can also use the BSP Online Buddy (BOB) chatbot to file complaints about financial institutions supervised by the central bank.
“The BSP Mobile App is our way of staying connected with the public,” said BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat during the launch held at the BSP head office in Manila. “It allows users to check key rates and public announcements, locate coin deposit machines or BSP offices, file complaints through our chatbot BOB, and stay updated with BSP news and advisories.”
Feedback encouraged
BSP officials encouraged the public to explore and provide feedback to help improve the app.
“With the official launch of the BSP Mobile app, we look forward to all of us becoming champions, promoting the app, and helping improve it through your valuable feedback,” said Director Reynaldo Florencio Zipagan.
