Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a pure end-to-end fiber internet service provider, has begun a fresh round of workforce augmentation with the deployment of more fiber optic installers.
The company has doubled its fiber optic installer crew compared to its pre-pandemic headcount and targets to triple the number by year-end. The continued augmentation of its workforce is part of an expansion plan that began in 2019. Customers waiting for their homes and businesses to be connected to the fast and reliable internet of Converge ICT will be the first to feel the positive effects of the increase in personnel.
“The expansion is now at its halfway point. Initially, we encountered some delays due to the Luzon-wide quarantines, which limited the movement of personnel,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, founder and CEO, Converge ICT.
According to Converge, “other efforts, such as the boosting of the number of seats for their voice and non-voice customer service teams, was already in full swing when the pandemic struck.”
The company has undergone transformational growth, renewing, and establishing contracts with four partner outsourcing companies to meet the surge in demand. This has resulted in the hiring and training of hundreds of 48-hour technical and non-technical support agents.
As the pandemic has funneled everyone toward online activities and transactions, Converge ICT has continued operations with safety arrangements and accommodations set for its agents and on-ground crew. The recent partnership with multinational telecommunications firm Nokia Corp. will enable the connection of over 300,000 customers in Mindanao to Converge ICT’s national backbone over the next three years.
At present, the company expects to incur capital expenditures of approximately P33 billion for the further development and expansion of its national backbone, provincial backbone and last-mile connectivity for the remainder of 2020 and 202.
