Online learning platform Coursera announced that it is among the first partners integrated into ChatGPT, following OpenAI’s launch of its first generation of apps at DevDay. This marks the first time an online education platform has been directly embedded in ChatGPT, allowing users to access verified learning materials during conversations.

“By putting trusted, verified learning into the hands of hundreds of millions of people, we can help them gain the skills they need to pursue economic opportunity and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera.

According to Coursera, ChatGPT has more than 800 million weekly users, with learning being one of the most common activities. With the new integration, users can access Coursera videos and information directly within ChatGPT by requesting the learning platform’s app or when the platform detects that its content may be relevant to the discussion.

“By bringing the expertise of world-class educators and institutions within Coursera into ChatGPT, learners can more easily find trusted content, build job-ready skills, move their careers forward, and unlock new opportunities,” said Leah Belsky, VP of Education at OpenAI.

The Coursera app is built on OpenAI’s Apps SDK and aims to make educational resources easier to find and use within ChatGPT. The app is available to all logged-in ChatGPT users outside the European Union across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. It currently supports English, with subtitles and dubbing available in select languages.

The company said it will continue to work with OpenAI to explore how generative AI can make online learning more personal, interactive, and scalable.
