The Department of Education (DepEd) is deploying one million Google Workspace for Education Plus accounts to its teachers and staff, to improve collaboration, communication, and efficiency in public schools across the country.
This initiative provides educators with tools such as Google Classroom, Meet, Docs, and Sheets, as well as increased storage and security features. Teachers can use Google Meet to conduct virtual classes, track student performance in real-time, and access AI-driven learning tools like Google’s Gemini assistant.
“Empowering our educators involves fostering a culture of innovation and providing the right tools,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara. “By equipping our teachers and staff with advanced digital capabilities, we are laying the groundwork for critical thinking, collaboration, efficiency, and creativity in our schools.”
The upgraded system also enhances online learning, offering improved originality reports to detect plagiarism and digital worksheets for subjects like math and English. This marks a shift from DepEd’s previous use of Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals since 2012.
