DITO Telecommunity supports Palarong Pambansa 2024

Telecommunications company DITO Telecommunity renews its commitment to empowering Filipino youth as it takes on the role of co-presenter for Palarong Pambansa 2024, the Philippines’ largest sporting event.

Partnering with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Cebu City’s local government, DITO aims to celebrate and support the spirit of young athletes competing in a variety of sports.

“We at DITO are always committed to helping build a stronger, progressive nation,” said Evelyn Jimenez, chief revenue officer for Consumer Business, DITO. “Emphasizing the company’s GalingDITO campaign, Jimenez highlighted DITO’s dedication to recognizing and empowering Filipino talent.

Since its inception in 1948, Palarong Pambansa has been a key platform for showcasing the talent and determination of young Filipino athletes. This year’s event, taking place from July 11 to 15 in Cebu City, will feature over 12,000 participants, including athletes, coaches, and officials. The competition will include 22 regular sports, a demonstration sport, and four Para Games.

Beyond Sports

Palarong Pambansa 2024 will also introduce several firsts, such as the addition of dance sports as a regular event and the participation of athletes from the National Academy of Sports and the Philippine Schools Overseas.

The event’s theme, “Beyond Sports,” aims to foster holistic development in athletics and education, while strengthening the bonds among athletes, their families, and peers.

“The talent and perseverance of every young Filipino athlete contribute to their achievements, but collectively, they help shape an empowering narrative of unity,” Jimenez said.

As part of the festivities, DITO will participate in the Opening Ceremony on July 9, 2024, at the Cebu City Sports Center. The company also promises exciting activities and giveaways at the GalingDITO Booths and will host a fan meet with the popular Pinoy pop boy group Alamat on July 7, 2024, at SM City Cebu.
