DoubleVerify, a platform for digital media measurement, has partnered with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to help stop the spread and monetization of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online.

The partnership, announced in May 2025, allows DoubleVerify to use IWF’s global URL List, which contains websites known to host CSAM. This step builds on DoubleVerify’s earlier actions to prevent advertising from appearing on illegal or harmful content.

“This partnership enables us to move faster and further together in the fight to protect children online by scaling efforts to shut down monetization pathways for this harmful content,” said Derek Ray-Hill, CEO of IWF.

DoubleVerify tools

DoubleVerify’s earlier efforts included the launch of a “P2P Sharing and Streaming” avoidance category. This tool blocks ads from showing on peer-to-peer sharing sites, which are often used to spread illegal material. The feature supports both pre-bid and post-bid ad blocking and is turned on by default.

Another tool, the “Highly Illicit: Do Not Monetize” category, has been made available to nearly 30 platforms for free. It identifies domains flagged by trusted partners like the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. This category is regularly updated using third-party data, industry input, and law enforcement sources.

“The fight against illegal and harmful content online requires not just talk, but ongoing, collective action,” said Mark Zagorski, CEO of DoubleVerify. “By working together across advertisers, adtech platforms, publishers, law enforcement, and third-party experts, we can make a meaningful impact in keeping digital advertising safe, responsible, and free from the monetization of harmful content.”

As part of the collaboration, DoubleVerify will also report new suspicious content to IWF for verification and takedown. The company is also working with third-party tech partners to improve how it identifies this type of content through automation.
