Philippine bank EastWest has enabled support for Google Pay on its debit cards, allowing customers to make payments using their smartphones or compatible wearables.

With the update, EastWest debit cardholders can add their cards to Google Wallet and use Google Pay for in-store purchases, online payments, and transactions while traveling overseas. This gives customers more digital payment options as more Filipinos adopt mobile wallets.

“By enabling EastWest Debit Cards on Google Pay, we are giving our customers an easier way to pay, one that fits naturally into how they live, travel, and shop today,” said Jerry Ngo, CEO of EastWest. “This is part of our broader commitment to deliver secure, globally competitive digital solutions for Filipinos.”

Once linked to Google Wallet, the EastWest debit card allows users to complete transactions with a tap on an Android device or supported wearable. The setup turns the smartphone into a digital wallet, removing the need to carry a physical card for everyday payments such as coffee purchases, grocery checkouts, and online shopping.

EastWest debit cards run on Visa’s global network, which allows cardholders to use them at millions of merchants worldwide.

The bank said security remains a key part of its digital banking services. Through the EasyWay App, customers can manage their debit cards and activate features such as locking or unlocking the card to help prevent unauthorized use.

For EastWest Priority clients who travel frequently, the bank offers additional benefits through its Visa Infinite debit card. These include a foreign exchange fee of 1.7%, waived interbank domestic withdrawal fees, and up to 10 free international ATM withdrawals per year. A promotional offer waiving foreign exchange bank conversion fees and allowing unlimited international ATM withdrawals runs until March 31, 2026.

Cardholders also have 24/7 access to Visa Infinite Concierge services for travel planning and assistance.
