ePLDT, the ICT arm of PLDT, has partnered with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) to bring GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and scalable AI solutions to the Philippine market. The companies signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ahead of the GPUaaS launch set for May 2025.
This collaboration aims to help more local enterprises and government agencies access high-performance computing tools without large upfront investments in hardware. This is in line with PLDT’s push for AI adoption in industries such as finance, healthcare, public services, e-commerce, and retail.
Making AI tools more accessible
“Our ongoing discussions with HPE, following the signing of our MOU, are underpinned by our focus on bringing the latest, AI-integrated advancements to the Philippines,” said Amil Azurin, chief commercial officer, ePLDT. “We’re excited to say that soon, more enterprises can achieve unmatched performance, efficiency, and computing with ePLDT. In this regard, we are optimistic regarding this collaboration.”
GPUs, or Graphics Processing Units, are known for speeding up the display of images and videos. But they also play a major role in AI and machine learning tasks, such as analyzing data, building predictions, and training smart systems. With GPUaaS, companies can tap into these computing resources on demand, adjusting based on their needs without buying costly equipment.
Pilot program underway at Vitro Santa Rosa
As part of the agreement, a Proof of Concept using HPE’s Private Cloud AI running on Nvidia GPUs is now in place. This infrastructure is hosted at Vitro Santa Rosa, the Philippines’ first data center built for AI and hyperscale needs.
“We are excited to collaborate with ePLDT to bring integrated and scalable AI solutions to the market to help Philippine enterprises accelerate their adoption of AI, resulting in faster time to value, enhanced productivity, and the creation of new revenue streams,” said Walter So, managing director for Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
First introduced in 2024, ePLDT’s GPUaaS will soon offer scalable, secure computing services to help organizations improve efficiency, speed up innovation, and stay competitive in today’s digital economy.
