Epson Philippines has successfully concluded the pilot batch of its “Trash to Treasure” program, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Launched in 2023, the initiative encourages employees to donate specific types of clean plastic waste, reflecting Epson’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community enrichment.
“In launching our ‘Trash to Treasure’ program, we are actively addressing waste management while demonstrating Epson’s commitment to responsible practices,” said Masako Kusama, president and director, Epson Philippines. “This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on our environment and support the communities we serve.”
Employees were invited to contribute clean plastic items such as bottles, egg containers, shampoo bottles, toothpaste tubes, courier pouches, food containers, cutlery, straws, potato chip bags, milk jugs, cooking oil containers, and shopping bags. By the end of the year, Epson Philippines collected 162 kilograms of clean plastic, which were then donated to Pasig City’s Environmental Resources and Waste Management Office (CENRO). These plastics were upcycled by CENRO’s partner organizations into items like vases and chairs.

The program’s participation process is straightforward: employees check the list of accepted plastics, clean and dry their donations, and drop them off at designated office bins where the plastics are weighed. The collected plastics are then allocated to Pasig CENRO to support recycling efforts.
Epson’s focus on environmentally conscious initiatives extends beyond this program. The company integrates recycled materials into some of its products and packaging, and promotes responsible consumption and waste reduction through its innovative technologies and corporate projects.

Following the successful pilot, Epson Philippines will continue the “Trash to Treasure” program, encouraging ongoing participation and collaboration to transform waste into valuable resources and promote a sustainable future.
