‘Genshin Impact’ still most talked about video game on Twitter

New game releases, as well as tournaments, helped in the upsurge of tweets in the first half of 2021 with 1.5 billion tweets. Last year was a record year for Twitter with more than 2.4 billion tweets about gaming in 2021.

“The 36% increase in Tweets about gaming year-over-year was driven by big-time conversations around game releases like Elden Ring, esports leagues like Call of Duty League, VALORANT Champions Tour and Professional Gamers League Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and global gaming events like Xbox Showcase, Playstation’s State of Play and Summer Game Fest,” Rishi Chadha, global head of Creator & Gaming Content Partnerships, wrote in a blog post.

Players and fans trooped to the social media platform to discuss and share their thoughts on anything gaming.

“Genshin Impact” is still the Most Tweeted About Video Game globally, after claiming the title in 2021.

Twitter has become a diary of sorts for “Wordle” players who want to track their progress. The web-based word game takes the No. 2 spot.

In countries that tweet the most about gaming, Japan takes the top spot followed by the United States and South Korea. The Philippines is in the seventh spot up by two places from its 2020 ranking.
