Globe demos Private 5G SA network in PH with HPE

To underscore the unique advantages of a Private 5G Standalone (5G SA) network, Globe, a telecommunications company, partnered with Athonet, a subsidiary of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, to showcase a demo at the recent “INNOVANIA: Technology and Innovation Day.” This tech fiesta featured a plethora of digital solutions.

A Private 5G SA network has the potential to significantly enhance security, offer customization, ultra-low latency, and provide high capacity to telecommunications networks. It was designed to manage extensive Internet of Things (IoT) deployments, making it especially advantageous for mission-critical applications.

“The breakthrough Private 5G Standalone Network brings us closer to a digitally transformed enterprise landscape,” said Yoke Kong Seow, chief technical advisor at Globe. “5G offers a lot of surprising use cases. Exploring it and doing customer pilot deployment will bring meaningful results and opportunities.”

Athonet’s 5G SA Starter Kit is an easily deployable, all-inclusive package that comprises SIM cards, a radio, and a top-rated mobile core network enclosed within a compact briefcase. This kit provides high-quality quality video and audio, with download speeds of up to 780 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Functioning as a plug-and-play Private 5G SA Network, the kit can be powered using a standard outlet and is adept at seamless integration with business applications through its N6 interface.

Enterprises aspiring to harness the benefits of a Private 5G network now possess an array of operational options. They can choose to host their solutions in the cloud, procure a comprehensive package that includes HPE edge servers and Athonet software, or simply license the software for integration into their existing infrastructure. They will also have the flexibility to tailor their own kit to accommodate specific coverage and capacity requirements, adapting to evolving use cases and business demands.
