Telecommunications company Globe is leaning into the power of 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve customer experiences, support businesses, and help more Filipinos access digital tools.
The telco reported stronger use of 5G technology and AI in its operations and services. Globe built 1,200 new sites in 2024, including 600 that support 5G. The company also introduced a fixed wireless access (FWA) router that runs on 5G and includes an interactive screen to guide users through setup and customer support.
“We’re building a future where technology is not just for the few, but for everyone,” said Darius Delgado, chief commercial officer of Globe, at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting media briefing. “Through AI and 5G, we’re able to deliver more meaningful services to people wherever they are.”
AI now plays a key role in Globe’s customer service and network operations. The company is building an AI assistant into its GlobeOne app, helping users find information quickly. On the network side, AI is used to predict technical issues, allowing for faster response and better reliability.
“By using machine learning, we can personalize offers for each customer. We’re no longer talking to the crowd — we’re talking one-on-one,” Delgado said.
The company also aims to serve underserved communities. Its prepaid fiber product, GFiber Prepaid, has grown 74% year-on-year and now reaches 260,000 households, many in lower-income groups.
Investing in infrastructure and security
Globe’s enterprise unit is also seeing growth in cloud, cybersecurity, and digital skills programs, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Year-on-year growth in these services has reached over 15%.
“We continue to invest in infrastructure and security, because trust is the most important currency in the digital world,” Delgado said. “Our goal is to make sure every Filipino is connected and protected.”
Globe said it will continue rolling out its 5G FWA service to more areas across the Philippines in the coming months. Through ongoing investments in digital services, the company hopes to narrow the digital divide and create more opportunities for Filipinos to take part in the digital economy.
