Globe is set to expand its network coverage to 100 more Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in 2025, to provide essential digital services to underserved communities across the country.

“Connectivity is a fundamental enabler of progress. By expanding network infrastructure in GIDAs, we are unlocking access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for millions of Filipinos,” said Darius Delgado, chief commercial officer of Globe.

With 600 operational cell sites already in place, the company plans to increase this to 700 by the end of the year.

The initiative is part of the Connectivity Plan Task Force (CPTF) under the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), which collaborates with the country’s three mobile network operators (MNOs). As part of the effort, MNOs have committed to constructing 1,050 new towers in GIDAs between 2025 and 2028. This expansion is expected to provide connectivity to approximately 12 million Filipinos in remote and underserved areas.

Globe continues to advocate for a collaborative approach to network expansion, emphasizing the role of private sector and government partnerships in ensuring efficient deployment of telecom services in GIDAs. The company sees shared infrastructure and optimized capacity as essential strategies for making digital services more accessible and sustainable.
