At the ninth #MadebyGoogle event, Google unveiled its latest advancements, showcasing the integration of cutting-edge AI technology across the Pixel and Android ecosystems.

#MadebyGoogle featured the new Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, alongside a strong focus on Google’s AI capabilities aimed at enhancing user experience.

Google highlighted how its artificial intelligence (AI) tool Gemini, is now fully integrated into the user experience, bringing a range of innovative and practical features to both Pixel devices and the wider Android platform. These features are designed to improve interaction, efficiency, and convenience for users.

One of the key features introduced is Gemini Live. Available to subscribers of Gemini Advanced, this feature allows for natural, intuitive conversations with the AI assistant. Gemini is capable of following along in a dialogue as naturally as a human would, making interactions more fluid and responsive.

Another significant addition is Gemini Overlay, which enables users to overlay Gemini on top of any active app. This allows for real-time assistance, such as asking questions about content on the screen. For instance, users can inquire about specific details in a YouTube video or generate images that can be directly dragged and dropped into apps like Gmail and Google Messages.

Integration of Gemini into devices

Google also announced the expansion of Gemini’s integration with more apps and services. New extensions for Google apps like Keep, Tasks, Utilities, and YouTube Music are set to launch in the coming weeks. This integration allows Gemini to assist with a variety of tasks seamlessly across multiple applications.

Gemini has been optimized for various smartphone models, including foldable phones. On these devices, Gemini can be utilized in a multi-window, split-screen format, enhancing productivity and multitasking.

To prioritize user privacy and security while fostering innovation, Google designed Gemini to protect personal information by avoiding dependence on third-party AI providers. The introduction of Gemini Nano, an on-device multimodal AI model, furthers this commitment by enabling secure processing of sensitive data directly on users’ phones.

Gemini is available in 45 languages and supports hundreds of phone models across more than 200 countries and territories, underscoring Google’s dedication to making advanced AI accessible to a global audience.
