Grab has received the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) “Bayani sa Last-Mile” award for helping expand digital services and livelihood opportunities across the Philippines.
The recognition was presented during the DICT Digital Bayanihan Awards: A Decade of Digital Transformation and Building the Future Together on June 30, 2026, at the Bahay ng Alumni in Quezon City. The event marked National ICT Month and the department’s 10th anniversary.
Grab was among private companies, government agencies, local government units, and other organizations recognized for supporting the country’s digital transformation over the past decade.
The award also highlights Grab’s role in supporting the Marcos administration’s digital economy goals by helping more Filipinos earn income through digital platforms while giving small businesses better access to customers.
The recognition comes as Grab continues its commitment to create 500,000 livelihood opportunities in the Philippines within five years. The company said it has already achieved 73% of that target, putting it on track to exceed its goal ahead of schedule.
“Last-mile delivery is where digital transformation becomes real for many Filipinos. It is when a small business can serve more customers, when a family can receive what they need more conveniently, and when a delivery-partner can access livelihood opportunities through technology,” said Ronald Roda, managing director of Grab Philippines. “We are honored by this recognition from DICT, and we remain committed to working with the government in building a more inclusive digital economy that creates opportunities for consumers, merchants, and our delivery-partners.”
Grab also has been expanding programs that help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digital tools. Its Grab Asenso: A Digital Diskarte Program, endorsed by DICT and partner local government units, provides mobile-based training on digital marketing, financial planning, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The program also gives merchants access to tools such as the Grab Merchant AI Assistant, which helps businesses create promotions, improve product descriptions, and respond to customer trends. Grab also offers digital payment tools that make cashless transactions easier for small businesses.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda recognized government agencies, local government units, and industry partners for supporting the country’s digital transformation, saying the goals of the government’s Digital Bayanihan program can only be achieved through collaboration.
