As the holiday season approaches, Grab Philippines is preparing for an expected surge in demand across its ride-hailing and food delivery services. The company has spent nearly a year crafting a strategy to improve its service reliability, accessibility, and safety during one of the busiest times of the year.

With past data indicating a significant rise in demand, Grab anticipates a 19% increase in daily users and up to a 45% boost in ride bookings during December’s peak weeks. Holiday traffic, however, presents challenges for drivers, who may face longer trip times.

“Filipinos just wish to be present this Christmas—fully engaged with family and friends as they celebrate the most beloved holiday,” said Ronald Roda, country head of Grab Philippines. “Grab aims to bring our kababayans closer to loved ones and help them create special moments this holiday season.”

New features address holiday travel concerns, including Grab’s Advanced Booking, which lets airport-bound users reserve rides up to seven days ahead, avoiding last-minute ride hassles. However, Grab acknowledged that driver cancellations on the day of travel are still possible and is working to address this gap.

Grab Food services

Safety remains a top priority, and Grab has enhanced its safety offerings with tools like Audio Protect, a feature users can activate for added security during rides.

In response to the increased demand, Grab has expanded its GrabUnlimited subscription, providing users with an 8% discount on GrabCar rides, and launched GrabCar Saver, a more affordable ride-hailing option. For groups, the new Group Rides feature enables groups of up to four to share a ride and split the base fare, supporting both affordability and resource efficiency.

On the food delivery side, Grab introduced GrabFood Group Order and GrabFood Saver to make it easier and more economical for families and friends to order festive meals together.

Throughout the season, Grab assures users that fare rates will comply with the guidelines set by the LTFRB, helping to keep prices fair amid holiday demand.
