Honor Philippines is set to launch the Honor X9d 5G on Jan. 9, with online videos and teasers pointing to a durability test that compares the smartphone with the Tesla Cybertruck.

Videos shared by media and influencers show the Honor X9d 5G being positioned against the all steel body of the Tesla Cybertruck. The comparison has drawn attention online, with viewers questioning how a smartphone would hold up when tested alongside a vehicle known for its rigid exterior.

Honor Philippines has also said that a Tesla Cybertruck may be given away during the official pre-order period of the Honor X9d 5G. Based on online content so far, the vehicle is also part of a the durability theme tied to the phone’s release.

The company describes the Honor X9d 5G as having what it calls “All Angle Ultra Defense,” a design meant to protect the device from drops and impacts. While full details have not yet been disclosed, Honor has indicated that more information about the durability tests will be shared closer to the launch date.

The comparison between the smartphone and the Tesla Cybertruck has become a talking point on social media, with users discussing whether the tests are practical and what they say about everyday phone use. Honor has not released technical data or test results as of this writing.
