Huawei Mate XT | Ultimate Design marks a new step in foldable technology. The device has already reached three million pre-orders before its official release, drawing interest from tech experts worldwide.

Foldable smartphones have gained popularity since Huawei launched the Mate X in 2019. The device played a role in shifting foldables from a niche concept to a mainstream product. Market analysts predicted a 21% growth rate for foldables from 2019 to 2022, reaching a projected market value of $51.1 billion.

The idea of foldable smartphones emerged alongside the push for larger screens and portability. Early mobile devices transitioned from physical keyboards to touchscreen displays, leading to the full-screen era seen in devices like the iPhone X. Huawei later introduced its foldable series, balancing the need for bigger displays and compact form factors.

While dual-screen foldables became widely adopted, Huawei pursued a new challenge: a triple-display smartphone. The company reportedly began developing the technology five years before launch. Unlike previous triple-fold prototypes shown at tech events like CES and MWC, Huawei’s design has become commercially viable.

The Mate XT | Ultimate Design offers users more flexibility with single, dual, and triple-screen modes. It combines features of smartphones, tablets, and PCs in one device. Huawei’s approach has influenced competitors, with Samsung planning its own tri-fold device, while Apple is expected to enter the foldable market later.

Huawei’s latest foldable may shape future developments in mobile technology. Industry experts believe it will drive further innovation in hardware and software, influencing the broader smartphone ecosystem.
