IBM has announced the global expansion of its software portfolio availability to 92 countries in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, a digital platform hosting thousands of software listings from independent vendors.

This expansion aims to facilitate procurement processes for clients worldwide, offering them greater flexibility and efficiency in purchasing and deploying software on AWS.

Previously accessible only in Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, IBM’s software listings will now be available to a broader international clientele. This move is expected to simplify purchasing procedures, streamline billing, and enable clients to utilize their AWS committed spend for IBM software acquisitions.

“By expanding the availability of our software portfolio in AWS Marketplace, organizations around the world will have greater access to a streamlined way to procure many IBM AI and hybrid cloud offerings to help propel their business forward,” said Nick Otto, head of Global Strategic Partnerships, IBM.

Cloud marketplaces, according to a study by Canalys, are experiencing rapid growth as a preferred channel for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) software distribution. Expected to reach $45 billion by 2025, these marketplaces offer shorter buying cycles and enhanced scalability for software deployments.

The expanded portfolio includes 44 listings and 29 SaaS offerings, featuring IBM’s artificial intelligence (AI) and data technologies. Notable offerings include components of the watsonx AI and Data platform, such as watsonx.data and watsonx.ai, aimed at empowering enterprises to build, scale, and govern AI workloads effectively.

“By leveraging the speed and simplified procurement capabilities of AWS Marketplace, customers can now more easily access IBM’s cutting-edge solutions, enabling them to accelerate their digital transformation and drive innovation at scale,” said Matt Yanchyshyn, GM at AWS Marketplace and Partner Services at AWS.

In addition to IBM’s flagship database Db2 Cloud Pak for Data, the portfolio encompasses automation software like Apptio, Turbonomic, and Instana, as well as security and sustainability solutions built on Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS.

IBM is also introducing 15 new IBM Consulting professional services and assets exclusively designed for AWS Marketplace, focusing on data and application modernization, security services, and industry-specific solutions.
