IBM, the official artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud partner of the Grammy Awards, released new digital tools built on AI and data platform watsonx to support fan engagement and member services ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The main feature, called Grammy IQ, uses agent-based AI to turn the Recording Academy’s music data into interactive quizzes for fans. The platform is designed to test music knowledge using historical Grammy Awards information and industry records across genres and eras.

“With Grammy IQ built with watsonx, we’re not only unlocking the richness of our history and data, we’re inviting fans and members everywhere to engage with music in more meaningful, interactive and inspiring ways,” said Adam Roth, executive vice president of Global Partnerships at the Recording Academy.

Grammy IQ includes an AI assistant placed across the Grammys’ online platforms to allow fans to interact with content. The system also features leaderboards, daily challenges, and sweepstakes to encourage participation and social sharing. The tool uses IBM’s Granite 3.0 large language model (LLM) to create quiz questions, provide hints, and explain answers using archived Grammy data. Top scores will be shown on a leaderboard on Grammy.com.

IBM is also working with the Grammy Museum to update Musical Crossroads, an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to explore artists and music across nearly 200 genres. The exhibit will use watsonx to connect artists, songs, images, and background stories, helping visitors understand how music styles influence each other.

“The Recording Academy and IBM are bringing fans closer to the music they love by leveraging AI with the Academy’s vast reserves of music industry data spanning all genres and generations,” said Jonathan Adashek, senior vice president of Marketing and Communications at IBM.

IBM said it is also updating digital tools for more than 30,000 Recording Academy members. Planned upgrades include improvements to the member portal and language translation support for four additional languages.
